Once, the Earth was flat and the center of the universe

The global warming farce is just as wrong.

From the article:

”But even Al Gore no longer claims that there are only one or two climate skeptics. Their number has been growing steadily.

Last year, 100 prominent climate scientists signed a letter to the U.N. secretary general, warning against accepting the IPCC results. So far, 650 climate scientists have expressed their skepticism about anthropogenic global warming. And 31,000 scientists, about one-third of them with Ph.D degrees, have signed the Oregon Petition against the Kyoto Protocol. ”

This is one of the wierdest times is modern history.

It’s over

Summer came and passed away,
Hardly seemed to last a day,
But it’s over,
And what can I do….

It’s over, It’s over, all over,
It’s over all over now,
And the way you looked
Don’t even mean I’m down.

~It’s Over~ Electric Light Orchestra

I’ll never forget it. Two Christmases ago (or was it three), when my sister, Valedictorian of her high school class, National Honor Student, winner of a $120,000 scholarship to an Ivy League school, looked at me with concerned eyes. Seconds prior, I’d commented on how warm and how nice the sun was on that Christmas day. It was around 50 degree I think, in Maine that afternoon, and it felt great to feel  the sun’s rays giving their heat.

But to my sister, this warmth was not be enjoyed. It was to be feared.

“I just hope this isn’t global warming”, she said. It’d been unseasonably warm for almost two weeks, you see.

I was crushed. Here my brilliant sister, after a mere year under the tutelage of progressives from Maine’s “micro-Harvard” (Bowdoin College), had succumbed to leftist mythologica. She even asked me if I’d seen Al Gore’s movie. Yes, that movie.

Now I’ll admit, my sister is everything I should have been, and heck, she plays rugby on the women’s team at Bowdoin, so she’s got to be cool, or at least tough. And guess what the Mascot is for that college? Polar bear. Yup. That dying species of white and lovable fur, sentenced to death by man’s combustion engines and burned toast.

But now it’s over.  It’s been over for a while, however almost on a daily basis articles are popping up, and the consensus, which never equaled science, is gone. When we consider this whole fiasco, it’s frightening how in this day and age, a whole populace can be hypnotized, or more appropriately–forced to believe in an ideology for fear of being ostracized.

It’s an example of the only plague to hit America in my life time, it’s the calamity that Ralph Peters terms, The Plague of Ideas.

Excellent Global Warming blog for NY Times

John Tierney writes an excellent article on the recent climate conference in NY. Predictably, the left has accused the scientists attending , of being tools of (Darth Vader music, please) Big Oil. The conference was made up of dissenting scientists of Global Warming. Al Gore was invited, but didn’t show up.

Tierney makes the point that any accusations of Payola levied at the dissenting scientists can just as easily be made of scientists supporting Global Warming. Because, there’s always a new industry created when new products are needed to fulfill our society’s new needs. And that’s a good thing. That’s why we’re so comfortable here. But we need to realize that the accusations of payoffs and fraud are no more applicable to those who don’t agree with the theory than those who do. After all–General Electric stands to make (actually already has made), a lot of money from a society trying to reduce carbon emissions. I have no problem with any company making money, as long as they’re not doing it based on falsehoods or lies.

Leftists should start flipping coins…

Modern Leftists should start flipping coins when it comes to deciding their positions on major issues–they’d be right a lot more often.

Global warming’s done. It will probably take decades to undo the damage that Al Gore has done, along with the activist media, but you’ll see, in another 10 years or so, it’ll be another looming global disaster to talk about, ’cause Folks–we ain’t gonna die from the Earth’s warming…

As a matter of fact, this winter was one of the coldest on record. The ice pack that was receding in Antarctica, you know, the one that took 100 years to shrink to it’s levels last year, it’s back to it original size after only one really cold winter.

This article is really going to depress the Greenies. They’ll be so sad that we’re not going to fry because of our cars and Barbecues…

http://www.dailytech.com/Temperature%20Monitors%20Report%20Widescale%20Global%20Cooling/article10866.htm

That’s right, it’s been so cold this winter, that the net increase in temperature has all but been wiped out. Scientists are just as bad as everyone else when it comes to speculation. Remember, if scientists can’t see it, they really don’t know, just like you and me, and the thing they’re really bad at is figuring out causality, which is what the global warming issue is really about–blaming us Capitalists meat-eaters for everything. Always be suspicious of any scientific study that tells what the exact cause of anything is. Remember the whole cholesterol-causes-heart-disease thing? It was wrong. Fat is bad for you? Wrong again…Neither of these statements were ever shown to be true in labs, and actually the opposite has been shown.

Again, the Leftist are on the wrong side.

Inconvenient Truth is untrue according to British Court

A British court ruled that Al Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth”, is factually inaccurate and if shown to school children, must be balanced with the views more commonly held by the scientific community. It is sad that this movie gained so much attention, and only because Gore’s name was involved.

The court sited eleven claims made in the film that have either been proven to be incorrect or controversial. Of particular note is the assertion that the icepack of Mt. Kilimanjaro is retreating because of global warming, that Hurricane Katrina was caused by global warming and that polar bears are dying because of global warming. All of these have been shown to be false or have no scientific link to warming. In fact, the polar bear population is on the rise, and there is no increase in the frequency or intensity of hurricanes.

This is one area in which clearer heads have won out. The issue of global warming is cooling. Strangely enough, a search of AP news articles in the last ten days shows no articles produced on this. There was an article in Reuters London though. Those journalists just KNOW we’re all going to boil off the earth–and they just can’t let you think any different.
