Update on puppy video

I’ve looked at the video a few more times here: http://mikecane2008.wordpress.com/2008/03/04/big-man-marine-murders-helpless-puppy/, and I think this may be a piece of Islamic fundamentalist propaganda. I believe it is a fake, though well done. Some of the people who have commented on blogs have blogs of their own written in Sanskrit, and one is actually called tehran24. Supposedly that site is about “pictures of downtown Tehran.” Sure enough, the site has tons of them, as well as write-ups on the area. Suspicious to me…

In the video, the soldiers mouths do not move accordingly with the words they are pronouncing, and the puppy looks odd, a bit stiff or something, with very short legs. The video at the top of the link shows an Islamic flag waving and then the text, “Barbaric Christian Soldier Kills a Puppy!”, appears. Also, there is a jade colored crown in the top left corner of the video.

This is psychological warfare. This is how powerful it is, when properly employed. The art of Psy-ops, is to accurately assess a culture’s feelings, and to twist them as much as possible to your side’s own advantage. Americans don’t understand that other armies do this sort of thing, but they do because it is very powerful and relatively easy, especially in a fee and open society such as our own. What is truly sad though, is how many weak-minded folk are out there, grabbing onto this thing. At least they’re back here taking their weak shots at America, and not overseas fighting dangerous people with guns and bombs.

    You are an idiot.

    1) This video has apparently been duplicated over and over since each time one site deletes it, people who have copied it re-upload it to other sites. As most of these are Flash video sites, the video is subjected to further image degradation.

    2) The YouTube version that appears at the top of my post happened to be the first one I found. I updated the post with two other versions (one of which has since been removed).

    3) I have seen versions with less image degradation on other sites. Unfortunately, the free WordPress service I use will only currently permit YouTube embedded video, otherwise I would have included those too. From what I have seen from these better videos, it is clearly *not* a fake video. The puppy’s front legs are tied with a zip tie. The puppy is not struggling due to being held by the nap of its neck (as its mother would).

    4) At no time is there a chance for the puppy to leave the soldier’s hand. This is not a magic trick. It is a real puppy being flung into an abyss.

    5) I have come across at least one site — by an American — who has collected other animal — and people — abuse videos taken by *our own troops* in Iraq that have been posted to YouTube. The callousness of the solider flinging the puppy is not an isolated incident. We have some members in our armed forces who should be stripped of their positions dishonorably and sent home (if not also to prison). They do our country a disservice and create more enemies for us.

If it’s real, the soldier should and will be punished. Right now, across this country, someone is killing an animal. You, however, have chosen this particular video because it shows a SOLDIER apparently doing so. You hate soldiers, plain and simple. It’s not about the puppy, it’s about your anti-war, anti-Bush ideology. So, you are helping to create more enemies. If you were worried about that( you’re not) you wouldn’t put the video up. But you did.

Oh, and disinter, being called an idiot by a Ron Paul supporter is like being called fat by Rosie O’Donnell.

No, I put the video up because I’d heard about it on the news and wanted to make sure it didn’t disappear — so I even placed screensnaps to ensure that.

Yes, I am anti-war. Elsewhere you claim to be a Christian. Is pro-war Christ-like? Our presence in Iraq was predicated on lies, period. Afghanistan could be justified. Iraq could not and still can not be.

Yes, I am anti-Bush. He is a war criminal, a despoiler of the Constitution, and should one day face trail and, if God is just, hang.

No, I am not anti-soldier. My own father died while in service for this country. I am anti-SOCIOPATHIC soldier.

If I am creating any enemies, it’s only sociopaths similar to that soldier. There will one day come a revolution in this nation and we will cleanse ourselves of their poison.

You said: If I am creating any enemies, it’s only sociopaths similar to that soldier.

    So you’re creating sociopaths?

    You said: Is pro-war Christ-like?

I don’t know, was the Revolutionary War ok? How about the Civil War, or WWII?

  6. March 6, 2008 at 1:54 am

    >>>So you’re creating sociopaths?

It’s a poor opponent who picks up on faulty sentence construction. You know very well what I intended: that only sociopaths would then consider me an enemy (as they rightly should!).

I concede your point about of American war of liberation (which is considered by those who first lived here something less glorious), the Civil War, WWI, WWII. But I have not stated being a Christian as a credential.

And someone who is anti-solider would have never posted this:

The anti-soldier comment was intended for the previous comment to yours, made by disinter.

The point here is that the puppy video, real or fake, does not prove that the US Military is evil, or that its mission is wrong, after all, it is not US policy to kill puppies for no reason.

Why is there an Islamic flag flying in the video? Why is the statement made about “Christians”, at the beginning of the video? Americans don’t write like that. It smacks of propaganda, that’s all I can say. If I’m proven wrong, I say the soldier should be prosecuted to the fullest. When I was a police offer, the worst thing for me to hear is when another officer did something wrong or illegal, and it got piped all over the nation via TV. I knew things like that made my job more difficult and allowed the people who hated me (just because I wore a uniform), vast amounts of ammo…

Apparently you did not click through to the remainder of the post. There were three versions of the video posted.

The one you saw was the first I came across. Of course it’s obviously from an Arabic source. But I agree with the FU sentiment at the end.

The other two videos are without any framing (one has since been deleted by YouTube).

I never characterized any soldier other than *him* as sociopathic or evil.

As for their mission being wrong, it’s already been established that:

    1) Bush came into office with a decision to invade Irag

    See this book:
    http://mikecane2008.wordpress.com/2008/01/18/alan-greenspan-knew-the-truth/

    See this video:

    2) He wouldn’t listen to the truth about the absence of WMDs so fed us outright lies

I feel disgust over the misuse and abuse of our troops. But nothing excuses the abusive action of that soldier or the soldiers I’ve seen likewise abusive to animals and *children* on YouTube.

  9. March 6, 2008 at 1:47 pm

Damn typo. I really should wear my reading glasses. Irag = Iraq. No insult intended.

Since we’re still talking about the “Bush Lied” theory, and that so many still believe that Bush lied so well as to dupe all of Cogress, and also to fool most of the intelligence agencies in the world (most of the countries in the UN supported the invasion, France and Russia–both lenders to Saddam’s regime–were on the security council, and they dissented.)

But here’s a story, and there are several more like it, that may interest you:

I hope this is not real if it is this is not a what a real Marine stand for and they should be court marshaled and suffer the same fate the puppy did. Don’t let this disgrace the many proud brave men and women fighting over there. Let our prayer and wishes be with them.

A lot of these animals overseas (in particular,Iraq) are rabid, and are a threat to the Marines and soldiers doing their jobs there. Many a time, they have to be put down, but not this badly. Yes, what they did was wrong, but was it so wrong that America should seek to crucify them? How innocent are all of the people living in this country. Have you ever swatted a fly? Stepped on a cockaroach? If so, then don’t be such a hypocrite.

Excellent point, Eric, about the coackroach and fly. We tend to prioritize our love of certain animals by how many human traits they seemingly possess. For instance, I think that if the video had shown a Marine chucking a baby monkey over the cliff, people may have been rioting in our streets…

  14. March 9, 2008 at 8:15 pm

Wow. I can’t believe you would point to a newsmax story. Now it’s Russia who evac’ed the WMDs? On talk radio it used to be a caravan into Syria. Or Iran (yeah, go figure *that* one!).

You have video before your eyes you label a fake. Yet you point to a story that’s clearly a lie and consider it truth.

    Case closed.

Nope–case isn’t closed on either point. But admit it, Mike: This story about the puppy somehow justifies your anti-war stance.

Yeah, I know, the Russians would NEVER do anything like that….Please go listen to some more NPR mike, please…

You can’t believe I would point to Newsmax? The story’s everywhere, but it’s all a giant conspiracy. And we all know that every video published on YouTube is REAL! Especially when it shows things going wrong in Iraq, right mike?

And I think it was you, on one comment on aother blog, that said there was going to be a revolution in this country and that you hoped our president would die. Does that sound sane mike? Please move to another country and try spewing the stuff you do. Try it. You’d be begging to get back here, and when you did get back, you’d probably stop wasting away as a gnome behind a keyboard.

    >>>And I think it was you, on one comment on aother blog, that said there was going to be a revolution in this country and that you hoped our president would die.

Yes, I said a revolution would come. And, yes, I did hope that as a WAR CRIMINAL, Bush would hang — as a LEGAL punishment for his war crimes.

What world do you live in? Don’t you know what’s going on before your eyes?
